It doesn't take much to get Spring going in Seattle. I took these photos with my cell phone camera last week.
Finally this weekend it was nice on Sunday (after an outrageous wind storm on Saturday) and we got out into the yard and did some work. I trimmed the hedge, picked up small twigs and branches, and got the dandelions with the weeder. My partner raked the backyard and trimmed some of the dead growth from last summer.
He was also in the process of adjusting the position of our new red hummingbird feeder in the budding magnolia outside the kitchen window and the most amazing thing happened. The hummingbird stopped by and hovered by him for a good 60 seconds, no more than 18 inches away and just looking at him as he stood still. It just so happened that I came into the kitchen and looked out the window as it happened. It was a really special thing.
