I got out the pushmower today and did the front and back yards. Finally it was a sunny day and the grass was dry enough to cut. The grass starts growing so quickly this time of year that you have to stay on top of it or else it gets totally out of control. Which reminds me that I'm going to be out of town two weekends in a row in a few weeks while visiting my sister in Paris. I'll have to factor a last minute lawn mow into my departure planning or maybe I can convince my partner to do it for me.
The yard is looking so nice right now and we were admiring all our hard work that we've put in. Our yard is one of the nicest on the block. Not the most trim and orderly, but it has the most color, variety and open yard and we think it definately makes a statement that we do in fact care. A lot of the neighbors have fences -- wooden or metal -- and some yards are blocked off with massive hedges, walls, shrubs and the like. I personally don't like closed off yards, well maybe the backyard but not the front. It's more of a personal security thing -- I wouldn't want to enter an enclosed dark space just in case someone else might be there. I don't mind having the open front yard, I sit out there on the lawn with my laptop and do work in the summer or run around with my dog any old time when its not wet outside.
I'll have to take photos and show you all the lovely blooms. Tomorrow I hope, tomorrow.
