We've been working hard on the house this week try to reorganize our belongings and make room for a few new ones as well as making space and getting ready for baby next month. The nursery is mostly painted, my art studio is in boxes lining the upstairs hall, the guest room and diningroom are stashes for all of our baby purchases. The livingroom is in a state of upheaval in preparation for the new sofa and media unit due to arrive later this week and I need to pack up the Christmas tree ornaments but I don't know if I can get to the tree with all the things in the way and my big belly.
My partner wants to move a metal cabinet up into my office from the livingroom but decided that he wanted to finally work on finishing the trim in that room first. He's got the quarteround back in around the edges and half the baseboard painted now. It still needs a second coat but it's looking really good. Finally that room will be finished! Well, he still has to build the bookcase in the corner but I'll take what I can get.
In the nursery we caulked around the baseboard and painted the darker aqua on the very top piece of the moulding. Now I have to go back in with the wall color and touch up the edges and there's a little more trim that needs to be touched up with white but it's coming together. I also got an estimate for getting the nursery floor refinished. I think they could do it this week but we have to move everything out of that room and pull the carpet up. Kevin, the floor guy, said that removing the carpet tack strips around the edges would take the most time. The floor had been painted in that room, but it's off white like the backstairs and definately doesn't go with the decor we've got going.
Oh, and I'm looking into area rugs as well. The Baby Bargains book says to check out these two rug sites for good bargains ---
I'm hoping we make some good progress today and next weekend so I can rest.
