The floor is refinished, the area rug is on order and due to come in the next couple of weeks, larger furniture items have been moved back into the room so the guest room isn't such a disaster.
My partner broke a pane of glass in the window, trying to get it closed a couple weekends ago. It was just what we didn't need, to add one more project. A friend of mine in the neighborhood repairs double-hung windows as a side job so we called him up and he came last weekend and fixed both windows. Yes, in ordinary circumstances we might have tried to do it ourselves but for the fact that he rehung both top and bottom window pieces, and replaced glass in three windows (the other window had textured glass that you couldn't see through) all in one day, it was worth the money in my book.
We still have to install the quarter-round (aka base shoe?) around the room and finish touching up the trim today and then except for the closet the painting is finished. Then I want to wipe down the floor once more from the dust of all the work that we've been doing, get the furniture into position and start moving the baby things into the room, hang pictures, etc.
I've still got boxes lining the upper hallway, waiting for bookshelves that are yet to be built. There are also bags of clothing and old books to get rid of, plus my art supplies that need to be stored somewhere.
Our sleeping porch has been turned into a closet of sort as we emptied it out of the baby's room so they could refinish the floors but now we're stuck as to where to put the off-season clothing as our closet is small in our bedroom. My mother is coming for a few weeks to help out so I'm sure she'll have fun (hah) helping me organize while the baby naps and I'm up to it.
Countdown to my due date!
