Did I mention we were having some of our windows repaired? A friend of mine fixes vintage double-hung windows and we've had him helping around the house, prior to getting the house painted. He also had two window parts remade as they were starting to rot out. It's been taking a while but hopefully we will get better use out of them.
The house is due to be painted in the coming weeks. I think we have settled on white as the main color with black and green on the windows. I'm thinking that the front porch floor we will repaint a gray color. The front door we may choose to do in a red, for contrast. The painter is going to come by with a handyman/carpenter to estimate the repair work needed about the house as part of preparation. At least we are getting some things taken care of.
I had the carpets upstairs professionally cleaned a few weeks back as well. We've been in the house since 2000 and they were looking a little gray. Much nicer now.
No movement on the kitchen remodel at all. We are super busy at work and with taking care of our baby so I think it will just have to wait. I'm tempted to just get a new stove put in and get the gas put in as well -- and then just move it later when we figure out our plans. I wish it was easier to figure out how to get this project done but its a toss up between doing an addition as a part of the project and needing an architect versus a redesign and remodel that might just require a designer with a builder. Oh well, I don't cook that much these days anyway.
