Kitchen planning - cabinets

We visited two cabinet showrooms yesterday and learned about different options and features of 6 different lines of cabinets. We have an appointment with one planner in a couple weeks to do an initial estimate, the other we are going to follow up with as well.

The woman we met with at Phinney Ridge Custom Cabinetry was great and gave us lots of info and was able to very quickly go through a lot of information with us.

We are thinking of going with painted wood cabinets, with some glass on the doors of the uppers. We are leaning towards plywood, frameless cabinets, something simple but with a little more decoration than a shaker design like we have now.

At this point we are planning on being our own project manager or contractor. My partner did that on his last house just fine and we have found that we are particular enough that we don't really want to hand over the project to anyone else. That's why we are starting to get serious about the various components for the remodel -- we want to make sure we source things with enough lead time.

Next, onto tile, flooring, countertops, dishwasher, etc.
