With family due to come into town in a few weeks, last night I decided to tackle cleaning the kitchen floor. Not just washing it but scrubbing it. The black and while linoleum is graphically interesting but such a bother to take care of. The white tiles in particular get build up on theme of the floor wax and just a regular wash won't do. I was down on my hands and knees last night with a scrub brush and ammonia solution stripping it back down. Labor intensive yes but I really wanted to make sure the edges were clean and I really don't want to buy another gagdet just for stripping the floor.
I made good progress, just a little more work tonight in a few areas and then I can coat it again with the wax. Two coats if I can manage it, so it really sparkles.
But, if you are considering a black and white linoleum floor, I don't really recommend it unless you have someone else cleaning your floors and only walk around in socks. Our floor will be replaced when we redo the kitchen, you can bet on that.
