Slimey

I've been thinking about knitted toys for some time and then yesterday I had an idea for a quick toy project -- I could knit Slimey, Oscar the Grouch's pet worm.

I found some suitable yarn in my stash, some Lion Brand Microspun, then searched online for a good photo. The Muppet Wiki has a good one (I'm posting from my iPhone so I can't link at the moment).

I cast on 7 then increased 2 on the second row using a YO. On the next row I knit the YOs through the back loop to twist them. Then I just alternated between red and orange, 3 rows per stripe. I increased 3 sts for the head and after a few rounds I K2tog alternating with a few single Ks. Then I sewed the remaining 5 sts though the loops and sewed black beads on for eyes. J loves his little Slimey.
