Christmas Stocking Time

I've picked back up Jonah's whale stocking for Christmas and done the 18 rows needed to get it to the point where I need to start on the heel.

I want to write down the directions for the heel down this time so I can have an official pattern to reference in the future. It is hard enough to just have the time to knit and not lose my count, not have Jonah tangling up the yarn and not making some grievous error due to being tired, but I really want to try to write it down.

Once I get going on the heel it should go pretty quickly. Gotta keep the momentum going on this project.

2007 StockingAlong

The stockingalong is starting up again if anyone would like to join in. I did it a couple years ago when I knit stockings for my parents. I'm hoping to make baby Jonah one, and possibly my partner as well.

I haven't gotten around to posting but I have been getting a little knitting in here and there. Socks are being knit in Cascade 220 so they are going fast.

Christmas Presents

I sent out my Christmas gifts last week and set up this post to publish on Christmas morning so I could finally share my project without fear of revealing my gifts too soon.

I decided last winter that I would knit stockings for my mother and father, to match the ones that my mother knit for my brother and I as children. But that pattern of the snowman just didn't jive with me, and besides I'm an artist so I could come up with something of my own.

For my father the sailor I created the sailboat stocking

For my mother, who has a special angel that was given to her as baby which she hangs on the top of the tree each year I knit an angel stocking

I sent other gifts as well but for my brother I was stuck. I didn't want to get him any old lame thing but I didn't want to not send anything. I thought about it and came up with an idea...

A sweater coupon -- I'll knit him a sweater. I guess we'll see soon enough how that goes over.
